(Global) Bechtel.org Delivers Projects for Vulnerable Communities

EPC firm Bechtel has launched a new social enterprise, Bechtel.org, to put the well-being of vulnerable communities "at the heart of infrastructure."

“The idea behind #bechtelorg is that every project starts with a social need. Our goal is to join forces with local agencies, scientific and academic institutions to figure out how to deliver projects that will meet that need—tapping into Bechtel’s core expertise in delivering really tough projects at scale,” a spokesperson for Bechtel said.

#bechtelorg’s first project will be in the remote Peruvian Andes, and aims to reverse the rising number of life-threatening respiratory illnesses brought on by extreme first frost. In partnership with Peru's Ministry of Housing and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru - PUCP, the firm will create a 30,000-unit housing development that will provide in-home heating for those communities dealing with sub-freezing temperatures.

Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Bechtel operates across 160 countries and is one of the world's largest engineering, procurement and construction firms.
