Hitachi Excavators and Bell ADTs
Breakbulk handler Heavy Industry Logistics has transported a cargo of plant machinery from Mombasa to Twangiza gold mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The project involved movement of 18 pieces of machinery, including two Hitachi excavators, weighing 54 tonnes and 68 tonnes, and eight Bell ADTs, each weighing 28.8 tonnes. A team from HiLOG was responsible for final import customs clearance into DRC at Ruzizi II border.
“The project wasn’t straight forward and easy due to the last-minute closure of Katuna border between Uganda – Rwanda due to political issues and so another route had to be found,” a spokesperson for HiLOG said.
Heavy Industry Logistics specializes in the movement of heavy-lift and out of gauge cargo and provides premium logistic services to heavy industries such as the oil & gas, mining, power generation, and renewable energy industries in Kenya and East Africa. The firm is a member of the Project Logistics Alliance.
