Nam Con Son 2 Phase 2 pipeline
Engineering services firm TechnipFMC has been awarded a “significant” contract by PetroVietnam Gas, for the development of the Nam Con Son 2 Phase 2 pipeline in offshore Vietnam.
The engineering, procurement and construction contract will cover breakbulk transport and installation of 118 kilometers of rigid pipeline as well as the fabrication of subsea structures to tie back the existing Nam Con Son 2 Phase 1 gas pipeline
“We are extremely pleased to have been entrusted with the Nam Con Son 2 Phase 2 pipeline contract,” said Arnaud PiĆ©ton, President Subsea at TechnipFMC.
Long Hai Landfall Station
The Nam Con Son 2 Phase 2 pipeline will be built across the Nam Con Son basin and Cuu Long basin, part of the southernmost sedimentary basin offshore of Vietnam.
“This pipeline collects and transports gas from several reserves to help meet the demand in Southeast Vietnam, and we look forward to collaborating with PetroVietnam Gas on this project
Vietnam.
The Nam Con Son pipeline connects to the Long Hai Landfall Station and is a major part of Vietnam’s offshore hydrocarbon infrastructure.
Deepwater Boon
Vietnam has emerged as as an important oil and natural gas producer in Southeast Asia over the last few decades, with exploration activities growing rapidly.
According to estimates from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Vietnam held 24.7 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proved natural gas reserves at the end of 2016, with around half of these reserves in the northern deepwater areas of the Song Hong basin.
Brekbulk operators have seen growing activity in the sector with major new developments expected from ExxonMobil’s Ca Voi Xanh field, PetroVietnam’s Block B project, and the overlapping basin with Malaysia.
